Changmin always knew Jaejoong was one of a kind. The older boy was always shunned out at school for his weirdness. Changmin met him on his first day in Math class. Being the Math prodigy of his grade he got to take class with students a grade over him. Upon entering the room, jaw tight and knees shaking, he saw the blonde haired weirdo seated at the far back of the classroom, furiously doodling with black marker right on the desk.

And there was no one else.

Not wanting to be seen with the older psycho everyone talked about he sat in the front row, just next to the window and opposite to the door. He busied himself with studying the formulas they would most probably be studying next for the next couple of minutes until he heard the distinctive screech of a chair being pulled back next to him. He turned around, glad that somebody else had arrived, but to his surprise there was the blond boy offering his hand in a handshake.

How did he get up so quietly?

“Hey, I know I am good looking but you don’t have to stare like that”

A chuckle brought him back from his thoughts.

“W-what?”

“I’m Jaejoong, nice to meet you”, the blonde introduced himself, his hand still waiting between them. Resigned (and trying not to look around for witnesses) he shook the offered hand.

“Changmin”

At that moment, another student came through the door and Changmin let go of Jaejoong’s hand quickly and the blond went back to his place, while Changmin turned his attention back to his notes.

After a couple of months in advanced Math class, the math whiz started noticing that Jaejoong was not as bad as they made them to be. Okay, the kid was no genius when it came to Math, and from the looks of it, neither in his other subjects. The only class he was interested in was Art, as he told Changmin the moment the younger boy ditched his seat at the front of the class to occupy one of the vacant seats next to Jaejoong’s own.

When lunch period came around, Changmin decided to seat with his new friend. He found out Jaejoong preferred sitting under the shade of the big oak tree outside the cafeteria over the more comfortable cafeteria tables. Also, Jaejoong was not shunned by everyone. There was this Yoochun fellow that regularly sat with them. He was a rather goofy guy who was very much into music.

“It almost rivals Jaejoong’s love for art”, he said earning a slap on the back of his head from Jaejoong, causing him to yelp indignantly while Changmin collapsed in a fit of laughter on the soft grass.

Changmin was fascinated with Jaejoong’s drawings. Some of them were random cartoons drawn in the spur of the moment, while others were charcoal portraits of very good quality. He even had a couple of landscapes to show.

“My ex-girlfriend got me into it, she was really one of a kind”, he had said then.

“Who was your girlfriend hyung?”

“She moved a long time ago, you wouldn’t have known her”

The young boy also felt curiosity over the older artist, and found himself staring at him out of the corner of his eye whenever he was in math class. He was beautiful, there was no doubt of that, and it struck Changmin as strange that the blonde was not yet worshipped by the entire female population of the school (at least not openly). A balled-up paper landed on his desk, shaking him out of his daze.

“You are staring again”

Changmin blushed, turning his sight back to the whiteboard, trying to focus. Jaejoong chuckled softly.

It turned out the girlfriend story was a lie, if the way Jaejoong’s hands roamed his body and his lips bruised Changmin’s own in a hot kiss were anything to go by. And the auburn-haired boy was surprised, not because of what his blond classmate was doing, but because of the way he was responding to it, his moans filling the empty Math classroom while Jaejoong pushed him until he was sitting on the teacher’s desk with Jaejoong standing between his legs without breaking the kiss.

Yoochun broke into pearls of laughter.

“Jaejoong is as gay as it gets, he’d never go for pussy”

Changmin decided then and there that he was not telling Yoochun anything ever again.

It was one afternoon when they were lazing around on Changmin’s porch that the boy found about Jaejoong’s secret passion. His head was on Jaejoong’s lap as the older boy played with his hair as he hummed some unknown song. The humming turned into singing and Changmin could’ve sworn that was how angels sounded like.

“Where did you learn to sing like that?”

“A lady who sang opera was my neighbor, she taught me in exchange for pulling out the weeds in her garden”

“You know, we should get back to that Math tutoring you asked for”

“Can’t you let me copy your homework again?”

“Seriously hyung…”

Changmin was silenced with a kiss and Jaejoong got an A on his homework.

This time Yoochun almost peed his pants from laughing too hard. He was even rolling on the floor holding his sides while he tried not to choke. Changmin’s ears burned.

“If Jaejoong ever got along with a single one of his neighbors it must have been the old man’s cat from next door”

“And he didn’t have an opera singing lady for a neighbor?”

“Nope”

It was the day of the exam. Changmin felt confident; he spent the entire afternoon studying for it. The teacher handed the papers and went back to his desk. Changmin took out his pencil and set his mind to the work before him.

“Psst…Changmin! Can I see your answers?”

Jaejoong flashed him a winning smile, and Changmin groaned quietly.

“We’ll get caught hyung!” he whispered back harshly.

“You two in the back, I said no talking. Give me your exams”

Changmin did not talk to Jaejoong for the rest of the day. He avoided him at lunch and for the first time in his life he skipped the second period of Math class. Unfortunately his plan to avoid the blond demon was unsuccessful when upon arriving home he discovered a puppy-eyed Jaejoong sitting on his bed. He stood up and walked towards a very tense Changmin.

“I’m sorry”, he muttered against the younger boy’s ear, closing the door behind him and turning the lock.

Before he could react, Jaejoong was kissing him and not long after he found himself naked on his bed, panting and moaning under the blond-haired boy’s ministrations.

“Ngh… hyung!!”

“Just Jaejoong, Changmin-ah”

Drowsily, Changmin cradled the older boy on his chest, caressing his arm softly. Jaejoong looked up at him with innocent eyes betrayed by his wicked smile.

“So, am I forgiven?”

This time Changmin initiated the kiss.

Changmin now understood why Jaejoong was ignored by most of the school population. He was too weird for his own good, too unpredictable and not trust-worthy at all. But he had that something that had the young auburn-haired boy craving for more, and he couldn’t quite place his finger on it. So against his better judgment he kept hanging around with Jaejoong, complying with the blonde’s every whim and desire.

“Will you drive me home?”

“You live too far away!!”

“Please?”

“…Okay”

When they arrived to Jaejoong’s home, Changmin was surprised to see a run-down apartment building. Jaejoong seemed embarrassed and hesitant to direct himself towards it but he had no choice. He put on his most cheerful face though.

“See you tomorrow, Changminnie”

Yoochun told Changmin Jaejoong sometimes did not have enough money for the bus fare. He lived with eight sisters and a drunkard for a father, while his mother slaved away to put food on the table. Sometimes Jaejoong helped her out with part-time jobs of his own.

Since that day, Changmin drove Jaejoong home every day.

“Can I have your fries?”

“Go buy your own!”

“But I didn’t bring any money”

Jaejoong pouted, and Changmin melted. Sighing he pushed his fries towards the blond-haired boy.

“But you owe me”

Jaejoong smiled seductively and Changmin had an idea of what his payment would consist of.

Changmin was studying for his History exam the next day when the phone rang.

“Changmin-ah, can you come help me babysit my sisters?”

“I’m sorry hyung I’ve got to study for an exam”

“Please Min, I wouldn’t ask you if it wasn’t strictly necessary”

Changmin sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose with his thumb and index finger.

“I’ll be there in fifteen minutes”

Changmin got a B minus in his History exam and a pair of dark bags under his eyes the next day. He went to talk to Yoochun.

“He is like a leech; he is sucking the life out of me”

“End it then”

“What?”

“End whatever you have with him, if you are so bothered with it just end it”

Changmin was at a loss. He did not know what to do. For the next couple of days he tried to ignore Jaejoong. He avoided him at lunch, and he when he changed seats in Math class the hurt look the blonde sent him almost broke his heart and consumed him with shame. But after a while the hurt glances turned into hateful glares, and that made it somewhat easier on the auburn-haired boy.

He also saw less of Yoochun, since he was Jaejoong’s friend, and Jaejoong was his link to the musician, though he did take notice of Yoochun’s crush with the new transfer student, a boy with a dolphin laugh and big duck-butt named Junsu.

The year was over and Jaejoong and Yoochun went to college. He still had another year of high school left, but it soon flew by and he was in college himself, studying medicine.

He rented a small apartment near campus and took a job at a small coffee shop a couple of blocks from his new apartment. Ironically the place was decorated with art-pieces from a too-familiar artist and he found out from the coffee shop owner, Yunho (a student like him, loaded with money and a natural ability for leadership), that Jaejoong was studying art at the same college that him, though they did not see each other since the art and medicine departments were in opposite locations in the campus.

It had been a hard day at work and they were just about to close up when the bell above the door chimed. Changmin had been sweeping the floor, when he looked up and his breath caught in his throat. Standing before him was no other than Jaejoong himself. His hair was black now and shorter too, but the beautiful face was still there. He noticed Jaejoong tensed up too when he took notice of him. Changmin awkwardly went back to sweeping, not daring to utter a word. He had been meaning to apologize for years, planning every single word out, imagining all the different scenarios and reactions that Jaejoong might have but he never thought he would face the man so unpredictably soon.

“Is Yunho here?” Jaejoong cut the thick awkward silence.

“He is in the back”, Changmin was amazed when his voice did not stutter, yet for some strange reason he felt like a fool.

At that moment Yunho came out and smiled widely at the sight of Jaejoong completely oblivious to the hostile atmosphere in the room. Yunho walked fast around the counter and wrapped his arms around Jaejoong’s waist, kissing him softly on the lips.

“Can you close up for me Changmin?”

“Sure boss”

The couple left hand in hand while Changmin continued sweeping. Once they were out of earshot, Changmin dropped the broom and collapsed behind the counter screaming. He laughed a bitter laugh and let the tears fall. It was the first time in his life that he felt this heartbroken, albeit it was his entire fault.

It was just school drama after all.

I hope it doesn't suck so badly LOL. I wrote this ages ago, kinda wanting to edit it and never came around to it. If I had edited it now I would have ended up deleting it, so ... here it is. Hope you enjoy :)
